oMbiel's iPhone campusM mobile app for Universities

I'm trying out whether or not posting news in this format -- by forwarding the release to Posterous and from there to the site -- is any good.

I know that Posterous typically struggles with line breaks (I usually have to add my own html to emails I write) so the output might look weird.

Back to the release. It looks to me as though oMbiel have sewn up a super segment in the Universities. It's not just iPhone either. Have a read...

Using your iPhone to watch Top Gun on the tube

14092009034

What better use for mobile technology than to watch Top Gun on your iPhone surrounded by crowds on a packed tube. Can any eagle-eyed Top Gun fans spot the scene I captured in the shot above? Double points if you can supply a related and obligatory 'your ego's writing cheques your body can't cash' quote from the movie.

The test pile for MIR's Tuesday Test series

14092009028

This is a small part of the MIR test pile - the gadgets and services awaiting video hands-on reviews. Bluetooth headset, phone, mobile charger, speaker. Not shown: the Vodafone 'vag' - all the voda employees know what I mean - and a rather sweet iPhone navigation app. The first video should be up tomorrow.

Nokia: Let's simplify! (Ovi's API and SDK go live)

Niklas Savander, EVP of Services at Nokia, is on stage at Nokia World talking about how they have totally 'got the message' that developing web runtime applications and services is (or was) a total arse.

Ovi's SDK is a web based toolbox using standard web technologies (html, css, javascript).

The experience, Niklas reckons, is fantastic. He showed a video demonstrating just how simple their partners are finding the API to integrate with via Ovi Maps. It all sounds good. I'm going to have a look at the offering and see how it stacks up.
