The LG Cookie KP500

I have just taken delivery of one of LG's newest models, the KP500 'Cookie' handset. The last LG handset I actually used for any length of time was the LG Shine and LG Secret - a good 6-8 months ago. I'm on record as being deeply unimpressed at the 'insides' of the LG range (I think they need to open developer access as soon as they can). But the LG built quality is usually supremely high and your average normob usually thoroughly enjoys their LG handset experience. So I'm looking forward to being able to bring you a viewpoint shortly. Standby.

'You MUST try this now': Puska Radio

Just got this message in from a rather impressed MIR reader:

You MUST try this NOW. This is the coolest thing I've seen in ages. http://puskaradio.com. Install on an N95 or E71. Share your location with others via sms. The website can auto refresh and the map zooms. - - - - -

Alas I'm Nokialess at the moment. My current N95 8GB doesn't do data, if you recall. But if you get a chance, take a look and let me know what you think?

Screw it, I will publish them...

My mobile number is public, right? It's upon the site here and available on dozens of pages on the site -- and duplicated by tons of content scrapers all over the place. So I get a ton of weird nexts now and again, from depressed teenagers wanting to kill themselves (I recommended the Samaritans along with a bit of tough love) to folk hunting for discounted Nokia N90s. Instead of quietly remarking to myself, I am going to publish them anonymously from now on. Here's the first:

N95 8GB: Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer.

Ah dear. I dug out my N95 8GB the other day and charged it up. I was going to try and use the device more - as a camera (because if you recall it arrived from T-Mobile UK without data functioning). Well. I can't use it. Not at the moment. I've never seen this message on a Nokia before:

"Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer."

Any suggestions on how to get it to work?

Meeting with the INQ chaps

I just sat down and did an interview with the INQ chaps. I pointed the camera at them and left it, this time, rather than sticking it in their faces all the time. They made some smart points especially regarding the total lack of decent support from other handset vendors - requiring INQ to take the development into their own hands. I will have the interview and unboxing online shortly. The INQ1 is looking pretty smart. I can definitely imagine using it on a regular basis - you're so connected with it. Put me down as the first UK customer please!
